Maybe when you're older
Because you're his little brother
So was I always told.
Now that I'm older
A man by society's standards
And you call me "little brother."
What will it take
For me to be older!
I've worked hard to earn respect
And instead inherited noogies and pats on the head.
Why does it matter?
Before I told you my age, you saw me as an equal.
Now I feel like the little brother who will never grow up.
We say that what's inside is what matters
But that never meant that what's outside does not
And who cares if I'm a strong and powerful soul
If I have the body of a teenager?
It would be absurd to assume
That an ugly man contains an ugly heart
For the Hunchback had a spirit pure as snow.
And yet we assume that a younger man
Contains an inexperienced heart
And a mind tabula rasa.
Please let me grow up.
Look through my age
Forget how many years ago I was born
And let me show you how old I am
So you'll see what my age truly is.
